Salman Khan is one star who has the highest recognition in the entire Bollywood fraternity. He has a tremendous fan following unlike any other star in Bollywood.

Salman Khan is the son of the famous scriptwriter- Salim Khan and Salma Khan (first wife of Salim Khan, also known by the name Sushila Charak).

Some of his noted family members include his grandfather- Abdul Rashid Khan. He was the DIG (Deputy Inspector General) of Indore, and was even awarded Diler award in the past.

The mother of Salman Khan is from Maharashtra. Her father was from J&K. Salman has two brothers and two sisters. His brothers include Sohail and Arbaaz Khan.

His sisters are Arpita (adopted) and Alvira Khan Agnihotri. The later is married to Atul Agnihotri who is both a director and an actor.

 Acting Debut and Film Career

It was the year 1988 when Salman Khan made his acting debut. He started his career by appearing in a small and supporting role from a movie titled Biwi Ho To Aisi. Well, in this movie, Khan’s voice was dubbed and he was not given any other role.

After making his debut from Biwi Ho to Aisi, Salman appeared in yet another film Maine Pyar Kia. It was released in 1989 and became the first film where he performed as a leading actor.

Maine Pyar Kia (1989) helped the actor in establishing himself as the next chocolate guy of B-Town.

The movie was a love and family drama and was liked by millions. The film also became one of the highest grossing movies of India.

The movie soon earned its Film fare award in the category of best male debut that was presented to Sooraj Bharjatya.

The film was later dubbed in many other languages including English and Spanish. It was first dubbed in English titled When Love Calls. It happened to be a 125 minute film and proved to be the biggest hit in Guyana. The movie also received huge collections in the markets like Tobago and Trinidad.

The film was later dubbed in Spanish by the name Te Amo.

After his initial success in movies, Khan continued to outperform in various other domestic and international projects. Later, he also appeared in television.

Some of his latest and memorable movies include Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), Sultan (2016),Tubelight (2017), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017).

Salman Khan film list that didn’t work

The career path of Salman Khan (in the next few years) received a few jolts as his films didn’t work at the box office. Only one of his films Saajan, released in the year 1991 managed to post a decent figure. Other than that, most of his other movies almost flopped at the box office.

This was the time when Sooraj Barjatya decided to step in to make a romantic drama with the actor- Hum Apke Hain Kaun. The movie had starred Madhuri Dixit in her lead role opposite Salman Khan.

After the initial rough patch, Khan didn’t look back and his career graph grew better with each film.

This was exactly when the star actor tried signing films in almost every genre. For example, he appeared in an action movie- Karan Arjun (1995), Auzaar (1997). Other than that, he also acted in some romantic flicks including Judwaa (1997).

Convictions- Blackbuck Poaching Case and Arms Act violations

Post 2000, Salman Khan had to face a lot of trouble, especially when he was convicted in theblack buck poaching case.

As per the reports, he along with Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Neelam and Tabu found guilty in killing the rare species of Black buck at the time of shooting for Hum Saath Saath Hain near forests in Jodhpur.

The entire episode proved disastrous for the actor and he had to spend no less than 7 days in Jodhpur central jail before releasing on bail. The actor was not only convicted under black buck poaching case but was also convicted under the Arms Act that was filed for allegedly using and keeping firearms.

In the recent turmoil of events, Khan is again held guilty by the session’s court in Jodhpur in Black buck poaching case. The court sentenced him 5 years imprisonment. Meanwhile, other accused in the case were acquitted.

Khan finally got bail on April 7, 2018 after spending 2 sleepless nights in Jodhpur jail.

In 2002, Khan again made headlines when his car rammed near the footpath and killed one person. Well, these off the screen incidents had badly tarnished his image that also reflected in the performance of his films.

The years 2002-2008 once again proved hazrdeous for the star actor as his films could not perform well and flopped at the box office. He only got some respite in 2009 when Prabhudeva had joined him with his debut film Wanted that featured Salman in the lead role.
